Program overview 

Alaska Mileage Plan is the loyalty program of Alaska Airlines. This is one of the few domestic US programs where you still earn miles based on the flown distance. Moreover, on March 31st 2021 Alaska Airlines joined the Oneworld Alliance. This means that you can book almost all Oneworld airlines using your Alaska miles.

  • Alaska Airlines flights to Hawaii start from 15,000 miles in Economy and 40,000 miles in First Class, one way. 
  • JAL from the US to Asia for 70,000 miles in First Class and 60,000 miles in Business Class.
  • Fiji Airways from Los Angeles for 55,000 miles one way in Business Class. 

Insider Tip 

  • Check Alaska Mileage Plan if you want to book Cathay Pacific and JAL flights. 
  • You may request an upgrade of your Alaska ticket purchased for money for 15,000 miles regardless of distance or for cash (USD $50 - USD $200) within 24 hours of your flight departure. 
  • Emirates First Class awards can no longer be booked through this program (Emirates partnership ends by end July 31 2021).
  • If you are looking to redeem points for Alaska Airlines flights from one of the credit card mega programs, British Airways Avios is a good place to start.
