Main Frequent Flyers Programs Copa ConnectMiles

Copa ConnectMiles

Program overview

ConnectMiles is a loyalty program of Copa Airlines, Panama’s main carrier and Star Alliance member. Copa used to be part of Mileage Plus, but recently split on its own. Unless you are based in Panama, the program does not offer anything of interest.

Point/Miles Conversion Chart

Pros

  • Star Alliance member
  • No fuel surcharges on Emirates
  • 1 stopover for a round trip award ticket
  • Mixed cabin awards

Cons

  • No credit card transfer partners or co-branded cards in US
  • Service fees for redemptions and changes
  • Copa service is mediocre; no flatbed seats in Business Class
  • Booking fee for award reservation booked within 21 days of departure (USD $25-75)

Excellent for

  • Emirates Business Class from the US to Dubai for 80,000 miles one way.
  • Copa flights from the US to Central America through Panama for 30,000 miles in Business one way.

Insider Tip

  • Emirates First Class awards cannot be booked with partner programs.
  • Copa Business Class is still not flatbed so while prices may be attractive it is not as valuable for long-haul flights since you are in a recliner.
  • If you are looking to fly Copa, Avianca Lifemiles followed by Aeroplan are good places to start the search.
