Point/Miles Conversion Chart

Pros

  • Promo awards offer excellent value for premium cabins but are very inflexible
  • Good award availability on KLM and Air France, better than any other program
  • Special additional award availability in premium classes reserved for elite members
  • Good website and decent customer service

Cons

  • Flying Blue doesn’t publish an award chart and uses dynamic pricing, but pricing is still much better than using Delta SkyMiles for Premium cabins
  • Only Elite members of the Flying Blue program can redeem miles for Air France La Premiere (First Class)
  • Fuel surcharges on many tickets, particularly high on Premium Class tickets

Excellent for

  • Delta flights from the US to the Caribbean start from 72,000 miles in a Business Class round trip.
  • KLM or Air France to Europe from the US for 21,000 miles in Economy one way and 53,000 miles in Business.
  • From the US to Mexico on Delta or Aeromexico Airlines for 14,500 miles in Economy one way.
  • Copa flight to Panama from the US starts from 17,500 miles in Economy one way.

Insider Tip

  • Look for promo awards to get the best value.
  • La Premiere - AF First Class cabin redemptions are only available through this program.
  • Transatlantic promo awards from non-SkyTeam hub cities like Chicago, Washington and Denver are often the best chance to find promo award space in premium classes.  You can always get inexpensive domestic tickets to connect separately.
  • The Homebase Stopover Strategy yields significant savings for Paris based travelers and combines well with Flying Blue.
  • Air France operates non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Tahiti several days a week and this program shows the best award availability for that route. You may need to buy a separate ticket to LAX, but the savings are worth it if you get a premium class award to Tahiti on Air France.
  • You can earn Flying Blue miles when booking hotels and rental cars. Check all partners here

I am a Flying Blue member with significant miles accused. What do I need to do to ensure flights taken on Delta Airlines Re credited to my Flying Blue account? Thank you.

Hi Roger bloom,
Thank you for your comment! If you want to claim your Flying Blue miles from past Delta flights, you will need to submit a claim through Flying Blue. You have up to 6 months from the date of your flight to do it.
However, please note that you cannot transfer miles to Flying Blue account, if they have already been credited to your Delta Skymiles account.

What if I live in the US? Can I use Flying Blue points to book domestic trips on delta?
