The hassle travelers experience most of the time can ruin their day or long-time planned travel vacation. Passengers often rush to comply with strict guidelines, which can be overwhelming, especially during peak season.
Thankfully, the days when people manually rearrange their belongings just to ensure their safety and security are almost over as they welcome the new era where state-of-the-art scanners do the work to make their lives easy!
In January 2023, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) began installing state-of-the-art scanners at Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport. These scanners help transportation security officers control the image and look thoroughly inside every carry-on baggage that comes through the machine, providing precise three-dimensional (3D) imaging and reducing the need for hands-on searches.
Correspondingly, the TSA checkpoint at Adirondack, Regional Airport (SLK) in New York, and the checkpoint at Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN) in New Jersey have also considered installing the Computed Tomography (CT) scanner.
It is no secret that modern airport technologies have paved the way for accessible tools such as state-of-the-art scanners. The following benefits highlight the significance of this technology:
Time is crucial for everyone's travel plans, and that's where state-of-the-art scanners come in handy—they help you save time. The system quickly processes all contents of the bags, including computers, laptops, and other electronics previously checked separately. Additionally, state-of-the-art scanners will manage liquids, aerosols, and gels from passengers' carry-on bags.
State-of-the-art scanners contain sophisticated algorithms for detecting explosives by generating a 3D image that permits comprehensive visual analysis. Transportation security officers can view and rotate the image on three axes, enabling a complete 360-degree examination.
New England airports witnessed a significant surge in firearm detections by the TSA in 2022. Impressively, T.F. Green, one of the airports operating in New England, has yet to find any since installing the state-of-the-art scanners.
With that said, some private airports in Delhi, India, are also starting to invest in installing the same device for a much smoother flow of airport security inspection.
Conversely, the TSA aims to install 330 state-of-the-art scanners across the United States to empower airports to provide more efficient, convenient, and passenger-centric services, revolutionizing how they accommodate passengers.
Even though the trend of using scanners at airports worldwide started in the early 2000s, there is no denying that state-of-the-art scanners can still be one of the significant airport essentials we may need at present to make everyone’s travel plans go smoothly.
So, watch out for state-of-the-art airport scanners on your next trip, and let us know your thoughts about it!
